Frequently asked questions

What teams buy, what the license unlocks, and how to get a session on the reader. Step-by-step setup is in the usage guide.

Who is EMVStudio for?+

Issuer and acquirer labs, terminal and kernel teams, universities, and consultants who need a desktop workbench to run EMV sessions and keep a professional log. If you test cards, readers, or teach the transaction, this is the seat.

What do I get after I buy?+

Standard (USD 199) runs contact and contactless sessions with a step-by-step log: TLV decode, ODA (SDA/DDA/CDA), cryptogram work (GENERATE AC, ARQC, lab ARPC), a host approve or decline, and a session log you can keep. Professional (USD 799) includes that workbench plus Java Card personalization from your profiles. Paid seats get ongoing workbench updates; a free account can upgrade, but in-app version updates require a paid license. Training, custom profiles, and lab rollouts are handled by inquiry — license prices are already listed.

How do I download the workbench?+

Create an account, confirm your email, and sign in. The Windows installer will be published as soon as possible. Windows 11 is recommended; Windows 10 is the minimum. A license unlocks full transaction testing and issuance inside the app.

What hardware do I need?+

A 64-bit Windows PC (Windows 11 recommended, Windows 10 minimum) and a PC/SC-capable contact or contactless reader. Install the reader’s driver if the operating system does not list the device. For Java Card personalization we recommend NXP JCOP J3R180 or J3R452 blank cards.

Which Java Cards should I use?+

Use NXP JCOP J3R180 or J3R452. Those are the cards we test issuance against. Other GlobalPlatform Java Cards may work, but J3R180 and J3R452 are the recommended stock for the laboratory bench.

How do I pay, and when does the license start?+

Checkout is cryptocurrency. Create an account, pick a license, pay the invoice, then keep that page open. After you send, confirmation usually takes several minutes and can take more than ten. The license unlocks only when payment is confirmed. If the invoice expires, start a new one from Account.

How do I sign in on the desktop?+

Use the same email as this website. Sign in on the workbench, or choose Sign in with browser and approve the code on the site. After that, select a reader and run the session.

The reader does not appear. What should I check?+

Confirm the reader is plugged in, the vendor driver is installed, and another program is not holding the device. Click the refresh control next to the reader list. On Linux, a PC/SC service must be running.

Does the workbench stay updated?+

Yes. A paid license includes ongoing maintenance so the bench does not freeze on the build you first installed. Sign in on a paid seat to receive in-app version updates. A free account can upgrade to a paid plan on the site; version updates are not pushed to unpaid seats.

When should I buy a license vs send an inquiry?+

Buy a license when you need the workbench — those prices are listed. Send an inquiry for a product question, training, custom profiles or applications, or an on-site week.

Where do I download and pay?+

Only https://www.emvstudio.com. Do not install a copy from an unknown source, or anything advertised as cracked, patched, or keygen — those files often carry malware and can destroy data. Sites on an .org domain are counterfeit. Do not pay them; you will lose your money and will not receive a license.

How is the software supposed to be used?+

EMVStudio is for authorized laboratory work. You are responsible for activity on the account. The Terms of use are the contract; read them before you register. Open the terms.
